![]() There were several tools called 'dollies' which were used on washday. The large zinc bucket was called a 'dolly tub', the long handled tool with five short legs was called a 'dolly peg', the handle of the dolly peg could be pulled out of the stem and was called a 'dolly stick' when used to lift the washing. The tool with the copper cone at one end was called a 'posser'. Like the dolly peg, it was used to plunge and push the washing in the soapy water.
