Introduction. From 1714 until 1830, Britain was ruled by four kings called George. George III is probably the best known because of his so-called madness.
The French Revolution, The Napoleonic Wars, Nelson's victory at the Battle of Trafalgar, and the American War of Independance all happened in the Georgian era.
Captain Cook discovered and claimed New Zealand and the Eastern Coast of Australia for Britain.
At home, the Industrial Revolution was just starting. In the early 1800s the first steam trains were tested. By 1829, there were 3 thousand miles of railway in Britain.
Towns expanded quickly and Britain was soon to become the wealthiest country in the World.
