Ordinary or Special?
Introduction. Ancient Egypt grew up along the banks of the river Nile where it flowed through the desert on its way to the Mediterranean Sea.
The river provided the water for life, and each year when it flooded the fields, it brought the nutrients for growing crops. Without it, Ancient Egypt could not have existed.
Over about 3,000 years, the Egyptians, separated by vast deserts from other peoples, developed an amazing civilisation in the Nile Valley, and fortunately, left behind a lot of evidence about their way of life.
